10 Years of Cornbread and Honey !

Celebrate with us on LYS Day!
Picture
I cannot believe it's been 10 years since I started dyeing. So much has happened in 10 years. 10 years ago I was looking for a distraction. Most people would have looked at my life then and say why??? I had 5 children and was pregnant with a 6th.  But my best friend Basil was dying and I was heartbroken. I had seen some beautiful yarn on Etsy and I thought I could do that.  After lots of research and trial and error,  I did just that.  I really wanted to dye yarn for my crochet projects. I didn't anticipate people wanting to buy what I dyed but they did.

Basil, my chocolate lab, did pass away and I was devastating and I threw myself into dyeing. Beauty came from heartbreak.

Dyeing helped me heal. Dyeing helped me through everything the past 10 years. It is my therapy, my passion. I love creating new colorways and dyeing old favorites. I love creating new custom colorways to help bring my customers visions to life.   Over 10 years I have developed my own techniques for dyeing and the results have been gorgeous.

18 months ago I took a large leap and opened a yarn shop. We had no yarn shops in our area and no shops close. We had crafters with no LYS. I also wanted my house back. The yarn dyeing had taken over my whole house and the garage. Some of my kids had never seen our house without the yarn. It was time for a major change.
Cornbread and Honey Yarn Apothecary was born!
Over the past 18 months I have added new products from lots of your favorite brands including our own cold processed soap and our lotion bars but Cornbread and Honey hand dyed is the heart and the core of what I do. I still do tons of trunk shows and a few festivals but you'll see everything when you walk in the doors. You'll be able to see what I do on a daily basis. I have a working shop where I do everything right in front of you from dyeing, twisting, tagging, winding yarn for customers, packing trunk shows, packaging items, computer work and much more.

Our Fiber Addicts group meets 3x a week. Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. I have lots of crocheters and of course knitters. We love meeting new people so come and craft with us. Our shop is completely inclusive. Bring whatever brand yarn you want, bring whatever craft you want, be yourself when you come in because you will see me being me.  There is also an amazing gluten free bakery next door...just saying.

To celebrate our 10 years of dyeing I have curated 4 advent boxes for this year. Our theme is Life's a Beach. The 4 boxes are Seashell, Beach Lighthouse, Island Summer and Blue Lagoon.
