3/11/2025 0 Comments Spring is here this week!If you live in northeast Ohio, you probably already know the phrase "if you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes". And boy, has that been true lately! We've had balmy 60 degree days followed by snow and wind. It's hard to know if you need a jacket, a shovel, sunglasses, or a vacation! While I can't deny that the weather has an impact on my crafting choices, I will admit that I rarely knit or crochet something during the season I would be utilizing it. It doesn't help that I'm not a terribly fast knitter or crocheter, and I am not project monogamous. At the moment I've got two cardigans in progress, one knit, one crochet; a mohair cowl; and a blanket shawl. There are other smaller lingering projects, but these are my primary WIPs and the ones I'm most excited about. Are any of these appropriate for spring or summer?? NO! But will I keep plodding away on them! You bet. Hopefully at least one sweater will be done by the time I need it? On the left, my on-going, never-ending mohair cowl! It's literally just a knit tube that will eventually be folded back on itself. I will then have to graft over 100 stitches together. Ugh! At the moment it is a nicely mindless project. Small, portable, never have to refer to the pattern. Win! (the color is slightly more interesting in person depending on the light) On the right, an FO that was a fun mashup, both in yarn and craft. I used two GE yarns held together: Eleri (silk/wool) along with Baby Silk Cloud (silk/alpaca). The majority of the hat was crocheted top down. I wanted a more elastic brim, and a friend suggested I just pick up the stitches and knit, so that's what I did! I'm so pleased with how it turned out. Submitted by Gwen B, Gwen Erin Natural Fibers
